Designing & Coding
Design
The design for Delusional Colours version 5 came about from an EGL inspiration.
despite being scared of them, i think butterflies are beautiful, especially swallowtails, and i love 'gothic' crosses and crowns. So i google image searched these three pictures and made my website.
The colour scheme came from my love for pink. The purples/greys just sort of fitted, I think its a nice blend.
Code
For the main styles on my websites i use CSS. This defines all the colours, sizes, positioning, background imaging etc basically everything visually.
I use some javascript and PHP coding, however not much. tehre are 2 reasons for this:
one they dont always work on everyones machines/browsers and
two i cannot write it myself, i have to download codes or use free web codes.
I dont see this as a negative thing, its not something i've ever wished to learn. I prefer the design side to websites than coding. Though i do enjoy coding it.
I'm not usually bothered about how a layout is made, as long as it works, is easy to navigate and looks professional then any coding can be used. Coding shortcuts and innacurate usage doesnt matter IMO because after all, the end user will be viewing yor website, as long as it works, who cares how its made. My websites dont need to be coded semantically, therefor i take the shortcut.
By saying this however, it doesn't mean i cant code semantically.
I do make my websites to W3C standards, and test it in both IE and firefox. Personally i use firefox and would definitely recommend it, before you ask why not stick with IE, take a look at this site.
